Jeff Li is the heart and soul behind Sichu Malatang — a visionary leader whose passion, resilience, and dedication have turned an idea into a thriving restaurant chain. He is deeply committed to sharing culture through food, embodying the spirit of innovation and perseverance.
Since 2019, the brand has introduced Filipinos to the bold, flavorful world of Malatang, a traditional Sichuan-style spicy hotpot, blending authenticity with a modern dining experience.
This year marks a significant milestone for Jeff Li with the opening of Sichu Malatang's 8th branch. For Jeff, the number 8 symbolizes infinity—a fitting representation of his journey. What began as a bold vision has grown into a cherished brand, demonstrating that even the most niche ideas can flourish when fueled by passion and determination.
Scaling a business is no easy feat, and Jeff Li knows this firsthand. “Opening multiple branches isn’t as simple as replicating what was currently done. Each branch presents new problems and challenges unique to its own aside from the financial aspect of it. Having gone through all of these made me grow to an extent that I didn’t foresee the past year,” Jeff reflects. His journey is a testament to adaptability, operational efficiency, and the importance of fostering a supportive team culture.
The driving force behind this success? People. “I was inspired by the resilience of my team. Their dedication and hard work, especially during arduous times, taught me the importance of leading with empathy and creating a supportive work environment. I treat them as part of my growing family,” Jeff says.
As he looks ahead, Jeff envisions Sichu Malatang as a nationally recognized name, a hub for cultural exchange, and a beacon of quality and authenticity. He plans to deepen community engagement and explore new culinary concepts, ensuring that the brand remains dynamic and rooted in its mission.
For Jeff Li, it’s not just about building a restaurant empire; it’s about inspiring others to dream bigger and create with heart.
As he pushes forward with plans for community engagement and innovative concepts, one thing is clear: the flame that started it all is only growing stronger.
The future? It’s as limitless—and spicy—as the Malatang bowls he serves.
