Congressman JC M. Abalos, a trailblazer for the Pagtibayin at Palaguin ang Pangkabuhayang Pilipino (4Ps) Partylist, is a dedicated advocate for Filipino empowerment. Currently, he is the House Assistant Minority Leader in the 19th Congress, and has made remarkable contributions, authoring 263 bills, co-authoring 116 measures, and actively engaging in 23 committees. Yet, his story extends far beyond legislative accomplishments—a narrative defined by resilience, selfless service, and an enduring commitment to uplifting the Filipino people.
2024 was a milestone year for Congressman Abalos. He led public hearings across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to champion House Bill 10388, the “4Ps Parent Leaders Act,” a measure aimed at empowering grassroots leaders and strengthening community development.
He also organized his inaugural charity golf tournament to support golf caddies, a cause deeply personal to him, as his grandfather was once a caddy. “This tournament wasn’t just about raising funds; it was about honoring hard work and providing social protection programs,” he says.
In addition, he introduced a House Bill aimed at ensuring caddies gain access to essential social protection programs, including SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG.
A relentless innovator, Cong. Abalos pioneered initiatives such as introducing Asian Parliamentary Debate to Mandaluyong City public high schools. Students debated national issues in live-streamed tournaments, igniting a passion for critical thinking. “The success of these tournaments reminds us that with support and dedication, young minds can achieve incredible things,” he shares.
His passion for advocacy stems from humble beginnings. A college activist at Ateneo de Manila University, he marched in rallies and protested for labor and farmers' rights. “I never dreamed of becoming a politician,” he reflects, “but my younger self taught me to fight for what’s right, a lesson I carry into the Batasang Pambansa.”
Despite his demanding role, Cong. Abalos underscores the importance of self-care and faith as pillars of resilience. During moments of uncertainty, he finds solace in reciting the Prayer for Serenity and treasures quiet moments spent with loved ones.
Cong. Abalos’ vision for the future is clear: service. Whether in public office or private life, he remains committed to uplifting Filipinos.
At 30, Congressman JC M. Abalos embodies leadership rooted in empathy, proving that transformative change begins with action—and a heart steadfast in service.
