At just 33 years old, Ian Umali is blending his passion for golf, faith, and business to revolutionize the sports industry in the Philippines.
As the president of Quantum Golf, he’s not only modernizing golf facilities but expanding to cater to a range of sports. “We started in 2022 with our original branch in Pasig, Quantum Golf, and we’re expanding to a full clubhouse in Alabang and Cebu by 2025. We will not only be limited to just golf but also, basketball, badminton, and pickleball,” Ian shares with excitement.
His vision is clear: to create state-of-the-art spaces that offer diverse sporting experiences for a growing community of athletes.
2024 was also a year of spiritual renewal for Ian, a time to reconnect with his faith. "For the past 3 years, I have been distracted by work, relationships, and just life in general that I forgot what was really important in my life. So this year, I got that back. I’ve been consistently going to church, reconnected with my friends from church, and been doing my daily Bible routine," Ian shares.
This deepened commitment to his spiritual life has brought a sense of purpose and clarity to his personal and professional journey.
Ian attributes much of his success to the principle of incremental progress, a philosophy that guides both his business ventures and personal development. "There’s a book that I’ve read, Atomic Habits, which says to really strive for 1% improvement every day in everything you do to really become better. I try to embody this in all the facets of my life, whether it be discipline, honesty, being on time, faith, I just try my best to slowly but surely achieve my goals,” he explains.
Ian’s dedication to small, consistent improvements has been a driving force behind his remarkable growth in business and personal life.
Balancing multiple businesses, Ian knows the importance of recharging and reflection. He often takes time to travel solo, using the opportunity to disconnect and recharge. “I enjoy my quiet time and just really spend time getting to know myself,” he says. This time alone allows him to process his thoughts, reset, and come back to his endeavors with renewed focus and energy.
Looking ahead, Ian is committed to continuing his work in transforming the sports landscape in the Philippines. “I really want to change the sports industry here, one facility at a time,” he says.
With his vision, discipline, and focus, Ian is set to drive impactful change, elevating the Philippine sports industry and helping shape its future for years to come.
