“Embarking on the journey of motherhood for the first time is an overwhelming transition, shifts in perspective and priorities. Formerly centered on just myself, I now embrace the responsibility of nurturing and guiding a new life, placing my daughter’s needs above my own convenience always,” Diane shares.

The Joys and Challenges of Motherhood

As Jessica Lange once said: “The natural state of motherhood is unselfishness. When you become a mother, you are no longer the center of your own universe. You relinquish that position to your children." 

We asked Diane how her motherhood has changed her:

As a first-time mom, Diane Yap-Reyes has faced the same uncertainties and challenges that many new parents experience. Yet, her approach to motherhood is rooted in her faith and her belief in taking things one day at a time.

For Diane Yap-Reyes, she credits her strong support system—her family and in-laws, husband, friends, and household helpers—with helping her stay grounded.

Diane understands the ups and downs of motherhood and shares her advice for other first-time moms: "Some days are bad and most days are good. No mom is perfect, and as long as you give your all, everything will be okay. Pray to God for courage, patience, and guidance each day." Her message resonates with anyone who has felt the pressure to be a "perfect" parent.

Passing on Values to Her Daughter

When asked about the values she wants to instill in her daughter, Pian, Diane emphasizes the importance of faith. "Our goal really is for our daughter to grow up having God at the center of her life. To shine for Jesus always. I believe with this, everything else will just fall where they need to be."

This foundation of faith shows not just Diane's parenting approach but also her business philosophy. 

The Future of Petalier

While embracing motherhood, Diane continues to focus on the growth and expansion of Petalier. She has shared exciting plans for the brand, including opening a brick-and-mortar flower shop and taking the brand global. "We want to continue providing more jobs, blessing people, and be able to pass the business to Pian if she wants to run it in the future," she shares; emphasizing the values she’d want to pass on to her newborn, Pian. 

Motherhood's Impact on Being Intentional with Business

Becoming a mother has influenced Diane's approach to business in a meaningful way. "I'm more intentional because I know that this is something that will have an influence on Pian—to inspire her to be a woman who has substance and is able to bless other people as well, to give joy," she says. With her newly born daughter, decisions are now made towards what she would want to pass on to Pian.

Beyond business, allowing the brand to grow into something with purpose is her utmost priority. She does not only want to pass on the business in the future but instill a sense of purpose - inspiring her daughter to achieve anything she sets her mind into. 

Diane Yap-Reyes' journey as an entrepreneur and mother is akin to a flourishing garden, where faith, family, and determination bloom in vibrant harmony. Despite the challenges, she finds joy in both roles and remains dedicated to creating a positive and inspiring impact, raising her daughter in the same values she carries, God-loving, guided and embarking on a life of meaning.
