More than 3,000 years ago, around the autumn equinox, Chinese emperors of the Zhou Dynasty performed sacred rituals beneath the moon, offering round pastries, drinks, and seasonal fruits in hopes of a bountiful harvest. Over the centuries, this ancient tradition evolved into what is now celebrated as the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Continuing this time-honored tradition, Solaire Resort welcomes the season with a new selection of handcrafted mooncakes from Red Lantern, available at both Solaire Resort Quezon City and Solaire Resort Entertainment City.
Presented in elegant gift boxes, Red Lantern’s mooncakes pay homage to Chinese culinary heritage while introducing contemporary flavors that bring a refined touch to the beloved Mid-Autumn tradition.
The traditional collection comes in an elegant box of four, featuring the Cantonese-style Fresh Abalone Mooncake, Low-Sugar Traditional Double Egg Yolk White Lotus Paste Mooncake, Taro Paste and Osmanthus Mooncake, and Red Wine and Cranberry Mooncake.
A highlight of this year’s collection is the meticulously crafted Suzhou-style Mooncakes, known for their delicate, multi-layered flaky crust, a signature of the centuries-old pastry tradition. Available individually or in a box of four, the assortment features inventive flavors, including the Chilled Mango Sago Cream with Pomelo Bird’s Nest Mooncake, a sophisticated interpretation inspired by the beloved Filipino dessert.
Also among the collection is the Butter Pastry Pandan Mooncake, which celebrates pandan, affectionately known as “Southeast Asia’s Vanilla,” for its naturally sweet and fragrant aroma.
No Mid-Autumn celebration is complete without tea. Complementing the mooncakes is the Scent of Full Moon Tea Set, featuring a tea strainer, 100 grams of Tisane de la Princesse, and 100 grams of the floral Original Marie Antoinette Blend. The pairing offers a soothing accompaniment to the delicate flavors of the mooncakes and adds another layer to the art of gifting.
For a more indulgent celebration, the limited-edition Signature Chef’s Imperial Box pairs four traditional mooncakes with a 50ml bottle of Louis XIII. The collection also features two Cognac-infused mooncakes, bringing an elevated spirit to the Mid-Autumn experience.
