With over a decade of experience, Hazel Calawod, an Australian-licensed professional has built a career on transforming lives, particularly through her work as a Sports Occupational Therapist. Most notably, her research-driven strategies and motivational expertise were key to Filipino Olympian Carlos Yulo’s two gold medals in gymnastics at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Her passion for helping people extends beyond elite athletes. Hazel is committed to improving the lives of older adults, as evidenced by her pivotal role in the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique's Aging Society Working Group. Alongside with representatives from FIG-Greece, Indonesia, Portugal, Poland, she’s pioneering innovative research to enhance health and life expectancy for seniors through gymnastics. “I use the latest research and the power of health sciences to empower individuals to overcome challenges and reach their full potential,” she says.
Hazel’s unique approach combines occupational therapy with cutting-edge technology. Her expertise in data science allows her to uncover hidden patterns in patient data, crafting highly personalized treatment plans. It’s a fusion of tradition and innovation, with Hazel leading the charge toward a more data-driven, individualized healthcare system.
While Hazel’s career continues to soar, she’s also embracing a new chapter in her personal life. In 2024, she signed with Viva Artists Agency, solidifying her faith in the power of listening to God’s calling. “When you heed God’s calling, God will plan everything for you,” she reflects. This move reaffirms her belief that balancing multiple passions is not only possible but fulfilling.
Despite her busy schedule, Hazel remains committed to recharging her mental and emotional well-being through prayer, exercise, and quality time with her pets. “Spending time with them brings me immense joy and helps me unwind,” she shares.
Looking ahead, Hazel plans to continue her journey of self-growth while making a difference in the lives of others. “In 2025, I plan to strike a better balance between my professional and personal life,” she says, “because I believe I can become a more effective and fulfilled individual if I also fill my own cup.”
Hazel’s journey is proof that when you embrace your passions and remain true to your purpose, the possibilities are limitless.
