Christmas is definitely just a month away. While most people are busy with preparations for the upcoming holidays, it is also important to take a break from all the holiday buzz. Here are five classic holiday films which you can binge watch this holiday season:

1. Home Alone (1990)

It isn’t Christmas if Home Alone is not on television. This classic is definitely one of the holiday favorites which a lot of people enjoy watching during this season as it’s main theme is obviously Christmas. The film follows the story of eight-year old bratty Kevin McCallister who was sent to the attic the night before a family trip to Paris. Unfortunately, he ends up being left alone as his parents mistakenly thought he was with them the whole time. Home alone, two burglars broke in the house which is up to Kevin to protect. More than comedy film about Christmas gone wrong, it also explores how our families are the most important gift we will ever receive.

 

2. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Tim Burton is a master of producing films that are out of this world. The Nightmare Before Christmas was definitely a masterpiece as it merged two of the most awaited seasons of the year: Halloween and Christmas. Following the misadventures of Halloweentown’s Pumpkin King Jack Skellington who had become bored of the same annual festivities of Halloween. So when he learns about Christmas, he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus. Eventually he learns that his plan might have went out of control. This holiday classic is definitely a favorite as it explores the beauty of Christmas with a twist.

 

3. Love, Actually (2003)

Who could ever forget Hugh Grant’s iconic dance scene in this holiday classic? Love, Actually explores nine different stories that are intertwined by the one emotion that connects each one of us: love. This romantic comedy is a perfect film to watch this season as it captures the whole concept of Christmas: it is the season of love.

 

4. It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

Life can be rough sometimes. As for George Bailey, life is full of problems that he decides to end it all, but angels convince him how important his life is as they show him what life would be without his existence. Set during Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life explores how life can be beautiful despite all of the challenges we face. Filled with hope and light, this film would definitely make you realize that life is indeed wonderful.

 

5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

A live-action adaptation of the beloved children’s tale by Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas follows the events that involve the grumpy green Grinch played by the funny Jim Carrey. This film is definitely a Christmas favorite as it explores how a reclusive creature can change because of the spirit of Christmas as embodied by the young Cindy Lou Who played by the adorable Taylor Momsen. With its humor and charming characters, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is definitely one of the best holiday films to date.
