Gretchen Ho, Danie Laurel, Rep. Sarah Elago and Kami Navarro shared how it is like to be a multi-hyphenate woman

Multi-hyphenates.

Just like what Lyn shared, people defined success in a more traditional manner before (especially for women). You are considered successful when you graduate from a good university, apply for a multi-national job, get married by a certain age and have a family, stay in company that offers amazing health benefits and they believe that you are set for life.

But now, several women are now disrupting that stigma and we now see a generation of slashers or multi-hyphenates. These multi-hyphenates prove us that life doesn’t have to be as linear as what people expected. You can pursue multiple dreams and juggle multiple crowns.

But what does it take to be a multi-hyphenate?

This is the question in everyone’s heads as more and more names of people who are labeled as “multi-hyphenates” have been emerging. With demanding schedules both in our personal and professional lives, juggling more than two roles seems to be impossible, so how do these people do it all? In reality, the term is less about being a jack of all trades, but more about possessing the right discipline and tools to follow your passion and do more than the bare minimum.

Tribe-Meet Up: The Toolkit for Every Multi-Hyphenate aims to equip women with these tools. The by-invite only afternoon event showcased multi-faceted women across diverse fields who have shared stories of their personal experience in struggling and succeeding in multiple roles. The intimate gathering was organized by She Talks Asia in partnership with Céleteque and featured women who have gone beyond society’s expectations and establishing their names in different fields, including Gretchen Ho, athlete, TV host, advocate, and Céleteque Brand Ambassador.

Aside from a panel discussion among speakers, the event had attendees disperse into break-out sessions which allowed them to delve deeper into discussions about what it takes to take on multiple roles in one’s life. Attendees were able to ask and discuss various topics from specific questions on time management to learning when it is time to make changes in one’s career.
