Celebrating A Decade of Artistic Filipino Excellence: ManilArt 2018

As Art is interwoven in our daily lives, this year’s ManilArt Art Exhibit celebrated the multidisciplinary nature of art. Art does not manifest through visuals alone, but also through music, performances, theater, and literature. Celebrating its 10th year, ManilArt chose the theme ‘Ang Arte ng Pilipinas’ highlighting Filipino excellence through the field of art.

ManilArt 2018 features 36 galleries that showcased diverse mediums of art. These galleries also showcased a huge part of the Filipino cultural heritage and national art consciousness as each art piece captured the Filipino identity.

The exhibit encouraged its exhibitors to showcase artworks that embody the Philippines as a whole, as each of their artwork is a manifestation of our national identity.

Moreover, it is also a platform to showcase Filipino artistic excellence to art enthusiasts and to fellow Filipinos. It featured the upbeat and vibrant talent of Filipino artists in capturing the Filipino culture and spirit through their art.

ManilArt 2018 was not only an exhibit that promoted artistic excellence but also a platform to encourage fellow Filipinos to appreciate art and reflect as they hopefully see themselves in each artwork.

Each piece of art was a reflection of our Filipino self and uplifts it as it manifested the beauty of our Filipino identity and culture.

Though art is subjective, it is still an outlet to unify us as it is serves as a mirror of ourselves. Art paves a way to recognize ourselves through the message it presents us. No matter how beautiful or disturbing art is, its job is to capture you and make you feel all sorts of things as you see yourself in every stroke, curve, tone, or any element present in the artwork. Art is a way for us to see ourselves and understand ourselves better.
