Ever since the pandemic started, staying offline has become a luxury for most of us. Our phones, laptops, screens used to be something we used to escape work but since the year 2020 started, social media and technology is now a big part of our daily lives. Despite the times we were all isolated and couped up in our homes, there’s been so much noise around in the online world – infuriating news that forces us to react, never ending social media updates, emails from work, etc. When was the last time you stayed offline for a day? When was the last time you immersed yourself in the present moment and got to appreciate nature’s beauty?

With the ongoing hustle of our career, personal lives, and the world of social media, it’s important to keep reinforcing the concept of taking it slow. There’s nothing emancipating and stronger than the healing power of nature.
Nothing will allow you to appreciate life’s beauty more than nature; the sun’s heat kissing your skin, sounds of the birds chirping, inhaling evergreen fresh air – nature has its own healing on one’s self. Nikulas Lebajo’s art and masterpieces express the beauty of nature.

Last May, Nikulas showcased his paintings at the Nuzen Art Gallery in Tagaytay. His works will take you through a journey outdoors. Making use of brush strokes, patterns, color combinations creating patterns, Nikulas will remind you of life’s beauty that we tend to forget about. Some refreshing elements he used for this collection are the inclusion of translucent floral and geometric patterns, a herd of bright hues of butterflies, in unison with the world outside.

His paintings come from the surroundings we usually see from Tagaytay, Laguna, Cavite, and Batangas – some of the most beautiful places outside the city we visit to escape. Through his paintings, he hopes to take our mind there and calm our minds just like how nature has eased his. Milileu is Lebajo’s 21st one-man show in his 32 years of painting. These new works are totally different from his traditional built-in, repetitive figures that he’s popularly known for.
