Alike50 Renaissance: Acclaimed Content Creator Abi Marquez

Abi Marquez, widely known as the “Internet’s Lumpia Queen,” is a culinary storyteller and Filipino food advocate who has earned global recognition for her innovative approach to sharing Filipino cuisine.

A recipient of the Webby People’s Voice Award in Social (Food & Drink) and a James Beard 2024 Media Awards honoree, Abi has used her platform to educate, entertain, and inspire people around the world about Filipino food culture. Her work not only showcases recipes but also highlights the cultural significance of each dish, helping to bridge gaps and bring Filipino flavors to the global stage.

For Abi, success is about more than just accolades. “In the food space, I see success as making Filipino cuisine more accessible and loved around the world,” she explained. Collaborating with international chefs and food creators has been one of her key strategies to achieving this, and seeing people from different backgrounds appreciate Filipino recipes brings her immense satisfaction.

On a personal level, Abi defines success as staying grounded in her values, despite the pressures of online life. “True success is all about staying grounded in my values and understanding my ‘why,’” she added.

Among all her remarkable endeavors, Abi believes that her greatest achievement lies in inspiring others — especially the younger generation—to discover the magic of cooking. It’s more than simply passing on a skill; it’s about sparking a flame of curiosity, encouraging creativity, and guiding others to find joy and purpose in the act of preparing food.

For Abi, nothing compares to the reward of watching young minds light up as they realize the endless possibilities that cooking offers.

Looking ahead, Abi envisions a journey of growth and creativity, where her passion for content creation flourishes alongside exciting new ventures. With plans to release cookbooks that showcase her signature recipes, she dreams of sharing the vibrant, heartwarming flavors of Filipino cuisine with the world.

Driven by a deep love for her heritage, Abi is unwavering in her mission to inspire others to embrace the rich traditions of Filipino cooking. Through her work, she hopes to ignite a sense of pride in future generations, encouraging them to connect with and celebrate their culinary roots.
