In this day and age when beauty is seen more as a necessity to live well, glutathione, a natural molecule found in every human cell, has gained enough popularity to rival that of idol groups. Despite its newfound popularity and the numerous materials detailing all the benefits of glutathione, it is surprising to realize that people do not really see this so-called Master Antioxidant beyond its beautifying benefits.

So what exactly is Glutathione?

Glutathione is a tripeptide molecule composed of three amino acids and is naturally produced by the liver. Naturally present in the human body system, this molecule has been found to have incredible health benefits. Contrary to popular belief that it is only good for getting clearer and fairer skin, glutathione has been found to play an essential role in cell repair and regeneration, maintenance of immune system, and treatment of certain illnesses, including but not limited to asthma, lung disease, cataract, glaucoma, heart attack, liver disease, memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, liver problems, diabetes, and anemia among others. It is, in fact, also being used in treating infertility in men and was found to have positive effects in the treatment of cancer and arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

Beyond its beautifying effect, glutathione is a very powerful essential nutrient. Here are some natural ways to boost glutathione in the human body:

1. Exercise is the key.

Most people interested in either its beautifying or health benefits will find themselves picking through a selection of beautifully packaged pills labeled as glutathione. Some would even go as far as having it via an IV drip or injection, which happens to be its most popular form of administration. Little did they know that introducing large doses of glutathione in the body is coubterproductive as it most often than not, sends mixed signals to the body, making it believe that the molecule comes in abundance, thereby messing up the body’s natural process of production.

Instead, experts have suggested raising glutathione levels naturally – via, what else? Exercise! Research have shown that moving that exercise powers up the cellular powerhouse of the muscles, which holds the key to raising glutathione levels in the body.

2. Eat pretty.

Just like every other process that promotes better health, it is recommended to eat highly nutritious food. Fortunately for all the health buff and beauty enthusiasts out there, it is possible to eat pretty and be healthy at the same time – that is, by raising glutathione levels naturally within the body itself.

Among the recommended foods include glutathione-rich ones like avocado, asparagus, okra, broccoli, orange, meat, and eggs – items that be found in every kitchen anywhere.

3. Relax.

Of course, being healthy and beautiful can never be achieved by merely eating healthy and doing tons of work at the gym. This is perhaps not only the most interesting but also the easiest thing to do to raise glutathione levels – sleep!

Studies have shown that it is during sleep when replication of glutathione exists. High glutathione levels help people sleep better and allows the body to make more glutathione. Conversely, shorter sleeping hours meant less generation of compensatory glutathione in the body, leading to aging and stress.

Beauty and health have always come hand-in-hand. As far as glutathione, health, and beauty is concerned, however, it seems that everything just leads back to the basics – where exercise, good food, and sleep always reign.
