Actors Song Jong-ki and Song Hye-kyo have started divorced proceedings. According to United Artist Agency, Hye-kyo’s management, the reason for the two’s separation is their differences in personality.

“The two were unable to overcome their differences, which led to this decision,” the official statement said. As reported by the Korea Herald, Jong-ki’s attorney Park Jae-hyun confirmed they had filed for divorce on behalf of the actor last Wednesday, June 26.

“Rather than denouncing one another and arguing over who is to blame, I hope that the divorce process can be wrapped up amicably,” Jong-ki shared in a statement.

“I ask for your understanding in regards to the fact that it is difficult to discuss the details of my personal life, and I will recover from my current wounds and do my utmost as an actor to repay you through great productions in the future,” the actor added.

The two actors first met through the phenomenal 2016 Korean drama “Descendants of the Sun” and got married the following year. The love story of the two were seen by fans all over the world as a K-drama dream come true. The celebration of their union was described by many as a fairytale wedding.
