Ayala Malls Greenbelt, in collaboration with Sociedad Española de Beneficencia (SEB) and esteemed partners, proudly launched the triumphant return of Paella Gigante at Greenbelt 3 Park as they celebrated the fusion of cultures through tantalizing flavors, rhythmic dances, and heartwarming community spirit.

As the sun began to set, the main highlight of the event started off with the pouring of 15 liters of Spanish Olive Oil in the giant pan by key representatives from Sociedad Espanola de Beneficencia (SEB), Ayala Malls, Spanish Embassy, and LTB Philippines Chefs Association.

With high anticipation for the veritable feast, an enticing aroma then filled the venue as 25 of the country’s renowned chefs from the premier chefs association in the Philippines, LTB Philippines Chefs Association, worked hand-in-hand to bring their art and culinary expertise into crafting the perfect paella with a fascinating demonstration. These masterful artists went above and beyond in making the event a success as they also helped in sourcing sponsors for the ingredients that were used to delight the taste buds of all those in attendance and made it an unforgettable celebration.

Every bite was savored with bountiful ingredients from the sponsors including: AFC for 60kg of Chicken; McAsia for 100kg of Paella Rice; Mida for 80kg of Seafood (Squid 30kg, Prawns 30kg, Mussels 20kg); Tierra de Espana for 30kg of Chorizo; 3KA for 70kg of Vegetables (Red and Green Peppers 40kg, Onion 20kg, Garlic 10kg); and Espafil for 15 liters of Spanish Olive Oil.

Ayala Malls Greenbelt has been hosting Paella Gigante for years. Despite a hiatus in the annual event from 2020 through 2023 due to the pandemic, the pause only fueled the determination to make its return this 2024 another one for the books! The much-awaited return only burned the fire stronger and made everyone all the more excited to experience another round of gastronomic delights and cultural spectacle next year that will surely be a feast for the senses.

The Return of a Culinary Legacy

SEB, established in 1948, is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of elderly individuals, both Spanish and Filipino. In 2012, Paella Gigante emerged as a joint initiative by SEB, Ayala Malls Greenbelt, and LTB Philippines Chef Association. The project serves as a fundraising endeavor to provide essential support, including shelter, medical assistance, counseling, hospitalization, and interment aid.

A celebration of culture, compassion, and community, guests embarked on a cultural journey with a paso doble and sevillanas dance showcase, a Spanish drum circle encouraging free-spirited dancing, and the passion and energy of traditional Flamenco dance performances by skilled Flamenco dancers.

In the spirit of elevating every moment, partners play a crucial role. LTB Philippines Chefs Association, the premier chefs association in the Philippines, brought their culinary expertise to create Manila’s biggest paella, while La Cámara Oficial Española de Comercio, Industria y Navegación, and other sponsors provided essential ingredients and support. It’s a collaborative effort, and together, a magical celebration unfolded.

La Camara, with 185 chambers in 45 countries, continues its unwavering commitment to promoting trade relations between Spain and the Philippines. Notably, 2024 marks the 125th year of La Camara’s impactful mission, evolving and adapting to remain relevant.
