Pacquiao defends his Welterweight title against 29-year-old Broner

Manny Pacquiao is still the champ. The eight-time World Division title holder successfully defended his WBA Welterweight Championship against American challenger Adrien Broner. He was pronounced the match’s winner via unanimous decision.

The judges scored the fight 117-111, 116-112, 116-112 in favor of Pacquiao. It is the Filipino boxer’s 61st win in 70 career professional fights. Meanwhile, this is Broner’s fourth loss in his career.

Also known under the moniker “The Problem,” Broner confidently said he “outboxed” Pacquiao. “I didn’t play, I beat him!” the American boxer said.

From the get-go, the 40-year-old legendary boxer didn’t look to land a knock down but Pacquiao forcefully caged his challenger to switch to more defensive tactics. As fast as Broner is, Pacquiao proved to be much faster. Throughout the rounds, Pacquiao was consistently aggressive to connect, while Broner struggled to keep the distance.

PacMan got his defense rhythm quite early. The boxing champ showed superior offense starting on the seventh round, a momentum he rode on til the match finished. In round 9, Pacquiao landed with a killer left jab.
