That’s how Nadine Lustre described the character of mythical hero Darna, a superhero creation of the legendary Mars Ravelo.

In early May, a 10-second video of Lustre shouting “Darna” became viral on Twitter, which made JaDine supporters from all over speculate if the actress will be adding the upcoming movie to her list of projects. While it was clearly posted out of humor, fans eagerly awaited news about the actress being handed the role. However, the 25-year-old Lustre recently revealed she did not even audition for the role.

“I’m just really honored that people they want me to be their Darna. I didn’t put any effort into the movie, I didn’t audition or anything, but to be compared and likened to Darna [who is] independent, powerful. It’s really nice,” Lustre told CNN Philippines in a TV interview.

Jerrold Tarog’s film will officially star Jane de Leon for the lead role. The director revealed he is targeting a 2020 release for the movie.
