The Embassy of Hungary recently hosted a special musical event, Hungarikum Recital at the Penthouse of the Del Rosario Law Centre in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig. Her Excellency Ambassador Titanilla Toth, along with her spouse, Arkadiusz Jan Tracz welcomed guests and friends of the Embassy.

Attendees experienced the stimulating music of Jozsef Terek as he performed Hungarian melodies, classical music, and popular pieces using the tárogató. The tárogató, an instrument resembling the clarinet, is a woodwind instrument with a single reed commonly used in Hungarian folk music.

Terek is an outstanding Hungarian performer and popular musician in the folk art scene. He is also a composer and folksong researcher. Moreover, he serves as a cultural ambassador for the tárogató instrument. He was recognized with the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit and has been promoting Hungarian musical values, particularly the tárogató, for 30 years, in Hungary and other countries.

The 41-year-old musician began his musical career 30 years ago in his hometown, Tapioszele. Since then, he has toured over 100 times in almost 40 countries in all continents. He is also a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, having performed on different stages throughout Europe, America, Africa, Oceania, and Asia, representing his country in 36 other countries at various world music festivals, theaters, universities, competitions for composers, and professional conferences.

The Hungarikum Recital is part of the one-year celebration commemorating the 50 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Hungary.
