One of the best things about traveling to Japan is getting a taste of your favorite cuisine for a lesser price. They even have so-called specialty streets that are lined with restaurants and hole-in-the-walls that offer only one type of dish, may it be sushi, ramen, or beer, that certainly ups your dining and cultural experience.

A taste of authenticity can be found all over its cities, and one can even get good food from convenience stores and train stations—which aren’t to be snubbed when you visit. Its famous bites of sushi are easily found in every corner, with a ton of counters and conveyor-belt restaurants offering it for as low as ¥50 to ¥100 a pop.

But while you book your tickets and wait for your flights, giving into your sushi cravings doesn’t have to be so heavy on the budget. We discovered a takeaway joint that makes us feast on eight pieces of sushi for only P99.

The Ta Ke Ho Me sushi stand lets you choose from five different available sushi flavors: California Maki, TKHM Roll, Cordon Bleu, Spicy Tuna, and Migori. If you’re on a sharing mode, sushi boxes also come in 24 pieces (P295), 40 pieces (P489) and 80 pieces (P969). The more pieces you order, the more flavors you can get into the mix.

The Migori sushi

California Maki has to be your safest bet, but their fusion options are quite intriguing, too. The TKHM roll isn’t your usual salmon sushi, as it has a cream cheese center and is topped generously with bonito flakes. While the Migori gives you a refreshing crunch with its cucumber filling, enveloped by the smoky flavor of torched salmon, with all the flavors ultimately balanced by the saltiness of the nori.

Not only is it affordable, Ta Ke Ho Me gives you that on-the-go Japanese stand experience! Apart from the sushi, they also have sashimi and wagyu skewers for you to try. Oh, and did we mention they do deliveries via Honestbee and Foodpanda, too? We can already hear the breaking of chopsticks!

Here’s the list of Ta Ke Ho Me branches: Sgt.Esguerra, Lilac Street, SM North Edsa, SM Sta.Mesa, SM Southmall, Ayala Cloverleaf, Robinsons Place Manila, SM Olongapo, Robinsons Galleria, MarqueeMall.
