On the island of Büyükada, Cartier built a world where its icons are no longer confined to campaigns or pages of a lookbook. They roam through the immersive Into the Wild installation, bringing the Maison’s fascination with the animal kingdom into a setting that feels part exhibition, part fantasy.
The Panther remains the star of the show, leading Cartier’s universe, which also houses the Tiger, the Crocodile, the Zebra, and the Lovebirds. Together, they turn Into the Wild from a collection to a world where the jeweler’s icons can be experienced as living characters.

But to understand why these animals have become so closely associated with Cartier, it helps to look beyond their appearance.
Meet Cartier’s Wild Icons
Since appearing in Cartier’s design vocabulary in 1914, the Panther has evolved as an abstract pattern into one of the Maison’s most recognizable symbols. Combined with strength and elegance, its untameable spirit made it particularly suited to Cartier’s vision of a modern wearer: using jewelry to communicate personality as much as status.

First seen as a panther-pelt pattern on a watch, it has evolved into sculptural forms while retaining characteristics that make it unmistakably Cartier. In Into the Wild, black lacquer and onyx recreate its signature dark coat, while tsavorite garnets bring its piercing green eyes to life.
Cartier’s Tiger, meanwhile, is graphic and powerful. In Into the Wild, sapphire and dumortierite quartz create its distinctive striped body, while aquamarine brings life to its eyes. Cartier combines an ultra-realistic tiger’s head with an entirely flexible body, interpreted through a graphic motif that gives the piece both structure and movement.

The Crocodile brings Cartier’s fascination with movement to the forefront. Made mostly of white gold and diamonds, the bracelet wraps closely around the wrist with its articulated structure intended to move with the wearer. The result is a piece that translates the crocodile’s fluidity into a tactile, almost sensual experience on the skin.

The Zebra brings a graphic quality to Cartier’s animal universe, with its black and white stripes offering a striking contrast to the Panther. In a timepiece, the animals hold the watch dial crafted in white gold and diamonds. The pairing brings two of Cartier’s icons together in a piece that balances boldness with precision.
The Lovebirds bring a softer, more romantic quality to Cartier’s menagerie. In one necklace, two birds sit together in white gold, accented with emerald drops and diamonds. The piece captures Cartier’s playful approach to fauna while giving the collection a sense of intimacy.
Set against the island’s landscape, the installation also gives Cartier an opportunity to explore what has made its fauna enduring. Rather than simply incorporating the animals’ physical characteristics into its pieces, the Maison plays with their personalities, allowing for a deeper connection between them and their audience.

Inside the installation, experiencing Cartier’s jewelry shifts from usually looking through a display case to encountering it in a visual landscape. Being featured in an environment built around the animals, visitors are able to appreciate the craftsmanship before eyeing them as pieces to be worn.
With Büyükada’s greenery and historic architecture, it is a fitting venue to star Cartier’s polished world of diamonds and precious metals. Instead of viewing the Panther as a logo, the environment made it feel like the creature that has long represented the brand has finally returned home.

Finally, the installation proves how for Cartier, the wild has never been entirely separate from luxury. It has lived in the Maison’s vocabulary for years, and Büyükada just gave it the room to breathe.
With Into the Wild, jewelry and the animals become something anyone can resonate with. With Into the Wild, Cartier’s icons are no longer just something to wear or admire. For a moment, they are alive.
