Last November 3, 2018 singer-songwriter Ariana Grande released a single entitled ‘thank u, next’ which explores her growth from all her past relationship break-ups.
Following her very recent break up with “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson, Ariana dropped the single wherein she mentioned some of her ex-lovers such as Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez and the late Mac Miller. In her latest song she addressed how she learned from each one of her previous boyfriends and how she chooses to grow from it.
One taught me love
One taught me patience
And one taught me pain
Now I’m so amazing
Say I’ve loved and I’ve lost
But that’s not what I see
So look what I got
Look what you taught me
And for that I say
Thank u, next
Thank u, next
Thank u, next
I’m so f—ing grateful for my ex.
‘thank u, next’ is far from the break up songs we usually hear on television or on the radio. Instead of a melodramatic view, Ariana Grande gave us a break up song that focused on the positive aspect of ending a relationship as she looks forward to what’s next for her. It is a song which young women should hear as it sends out a message that it is important to also choose and love yourself as you learn and grow from pain.
Ariana tells us that we all learn from the people we meet and from the people that leave, and we must always use we learn from them it for our growth.
A feminist that she is, Ariana Grande sets herself as an example to women and young girls by sending out a positive message on self-love, acceptance, and growth.
